Marketplace Volunteers do not have to be Kiwanis Club Members to volunteer at the Marketplace.  About a third of the 19,000 yearly volunteer hours donated are by Kiwanis Club Members.  We encourage Volunteers to work at the Marketplace as often as they like.  We are very flexible and accommodating to everyone!

Volunteers are needed during our business hours, Tues – Sat, 9 am -4 pm.  Generally, volunteers will work a 4 hour morning or afternoon shift, yet we welcome whatever amount of time you can give.

Several Volunteer Appreciation Parties are held throughout the year for recognition of Volunteer efforts.  Volunteers are encouraged to attend our parties and to bring a friend or family member.  Most Appreciation Parties are held at the Marketplace and are a lot of fun and a great place to make another new friend

Volunteer Opportunities at new Dementia Care and Education Campus

Hospice of the Valley’s Dementia Care and Education Campus is opening in early 2022 at 44th Street and Indianola Avenue in Phoenix. This campus will be a place where people can live life to the fullest and receive exceptional care for all types of dementia. From the earliest stages to the most advanced, loved ones and their caregivers will receive compassionate support and education to help ease a challenging journey.

A big component of this beautiful care comes from volunteers who visit with patients and families. We invite you to join our volunteer family and truly change lives with your companionship, conversation and laughter. The campus also has a need for volunteers with professional talents — licensed/certified hair stylists, nail artists and yoga instructors who enjoy pampering someone with a relaxing experience that lifts or calms the spirit.

To volunteer at the Dementia Care and Education Campus or with Hospice of the Valley, please contact Angela Hofler at ahofler@hov.org or (602) 739-4717. It may be one of the most fulfilling things you ever do!

Hospice of the Valley is recruiting volunteers to support military families

A national program that matches people in communities across the country with veterans who need support is now available in the Phoenix area through Hospice of the Valley.

Volunteers who join the ASU-based program, called Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families, receive special training in caregiving support from Hospice of the Valley. They provide companionship to patients, socialization and in-home respite care that allows caregivers to take a much-needed break. In return, Legacy Corps volunteers receive a monthly allowance and a college tuition award after a year of service. Those who are 55 or older can pass this award to a child or grandchild.

If you would love the opportunity to enrich the lives of veteran patients and their families, please contact Hospice of the Valley at (480) 844-5486 or legacycorps@hov.org. To learn more about the Legacy Corps program and apply, visit hov.org/volunteer/Legacy-Corps.
